Weekend Notes: Easter Prep, Mini Makeovers, and Little Joys

Happy Easter weekend to everyone who celebrates! Our household is currently in full-on scramble mode trying to pull things together before Sunday. In true “us” fashion, Keith is making a late-night Target run because, well, we are world-class procrastinators. Somehow, no matter how much I plan, there’s always something last-minute that slips through the cracks—extra candy, napkins, or that one ingredient I swore we had in the pantry.

But that’s the charm of holiday weekends, isn’t it? They’re rarely picture-perfect, yet the chaos somehow becomes part of the memory.

A Blog Refresh?

On another note, I’ve been thinking that this little corner of the internet might be due for a mini makeover. Nothing dramatic, but a gentle refresh to make things more welcoming and easy to navigate. To my longtime readers—and even those who might be new here—I’d love to hear from you. Are there features you’ve been wishing for? Something about the layout that drives you slightly mad? I’m wide open to constructive criticism, so don’t hold back. At the end of the day, this space is for us, and I want it to be a place you enjoy visiting.

Small Rituals That Keep Me Grounded

Here’s something about me: I absolutely need to stretch every morning. Nothing intense, just two or three minutes of full-body stretches to shake the stiffness away. Without it, I feel completely off for the rest of the day. Lately, I’ve been using this guide of nine stretches designed to relax every muscle, and it has been a game changer. It’s the kind of thing that sounds small but genuinely transforms your mood.

Daydream Destinations

Maybe it’s the slow shift into spring or just the itch for a getaway, but I’ve been daydreaming about travel lately. I came across a round-up of 16 beautiful small towns that are worth planning a trip to, and now my bucket list has grown longer. There’s something so magical about exploring small towns—charming streets, cozy cafés, a slower pace. Exactly what my soul craves right now.

Food, Design, and Curiosities

While we’re on the topic of interesting reads, here are a few things that caught my attention this week:

  • Why some New York restaurants are pivoting to members-only models. Intriguing, but also—do we really need gatekeeping in dining?
  • Five common interior design mistakes and how to avoid them. (Confession: I’m guilty of at least two.)
  • A surprisingly wholesome Instagram account that captures little moments from the streets of NYC. It’s my go-to when I need something uplifting.

Style Notes

On the fashion front, a few things I’ve been loving lately:

  • These earrings that have been in heavy rotation. Sometimes all you need is one accessory to make an outfit feel fresh.
  • A denim dress I loved so much in blue that I couldn’t resist picking it up in a new shade. It’s rare to find something that works across seasons, but this dress is exactly that.
  • COS has an excellent selection right now. I rounded up my favorites and shared them over on Substack. Minimalist, versatile, and exactly the kind of pieces you’ll reach for again and again.
  • My Shopbop “hearts” have been updated. I scroll through every single page (yes, all of them) to curate my favorite finds. Consider it my love letter to online shopping.

Objects of Desire

Speaking of fashion, I still think back to one of my favorite purchases from last year: my Savette clutch. It’s one of those pieces that feels timeless but modern, structured but soft. I received so many questions about it that I finally wrote a detailed review. If you’re on the fence about investing in a statement bag, this one deserves serious consideration.

And yes, my dreamy little wish list continues to grow—it’s a mix of pieces I’m saving up for, items I’ll probably admire from afar, and a few “just because” indulgences.

Local Life

Since I live close to three major airports—LaGuardia, JFK, and Newark—I tend to play favorites. LaGuardia has historically been my last choice (too far, too frustrating), but I was there recently and honestly? It might just be our nicest airport at the moment. Clean, modern, and dare I say, almost pleasant. Consider me impressed.

Food for Thought

Finally, a little reminder for the week: I stumbled on an article about how to be a genuinely good listener. It sounds simple, but in practice, it’s something many of us struggle with. Sometimes the most generous thing you can do for someone is to give them your full attention. No advice, no solutions, just listening. It feels especially relevant right now, when so many conversations are happening through screens.

Wrapping It Up

So that’s my round-up of what’s been on my mind this weekend: Easter chaos, the possibility of a blog refresh, small rituals that make a big difference, and a handful of little joys that brighten everyday life.

I’ll leave you with this: enjoy your weekend in whatever way feels right for you. Maybe it’s family dinners, maybe it’s solo downtime, or maybe it’s simply savoring that first stretch in the morning before the day begins.

Wishing you a joyful Easter and a beautiful start to spring.
